My Angel

My sister-in-law is doing a giveaway on her blog (http://www.fairlyhappy.com/2010/03/pay-it-forward.html) for stories about an act of service. Here is mine that happened a few days ago.

A couple of days ago I was really missing my parents who are serving a mission in New Zealand. As I was holding my 2 week old son I thought, "no one should have a baby without their Mom around!" All day long I prayed for the emptiness to go away or that I could somehow fill the void. As I was putting my two oldest children down for bed at 8:30 pm my husband came down and told me that someone was at my house to see me. As I walked up the stairs to see who it was, my heart was filled with joy and tears came to my eyes as I saw my Mom's best friend standing at the top of the stairs with outstretched arms. I told her how happy I was to see her and how much I had missed my Mom that day. She told me that she had been thinking about me and didn't know if she should just show up...SHE SHOULD and I'm so glad she did! We sat and talked on my couch for several hours and the ache I felt for my Mother melted away.
A couple of days later I talked with my parents on Skype and I told them how happy I was that Cheryl had come to see me. I told them about my experience and they told me that she never does anything past 8:30 pm because she works and goes to bed early. I was even more grateful for her and her sacrifice.
I am so grateful that my Heavenly Father was aware of me that day and that I had a friend that was able to heed the promptings to come and visit me. There are so many opportunites to serve each other and touch each others lives. I wonder how often we let thoughts that come to us just pass when we could bless our own lives and the lives of others.

24th of July

Since Scott had Tuesday off for the 24th we decided to pack up the kids and head up to Pocatello, ID. We stayed at the Red Lion and got the pool all to ourselves (it was freezing). We got to visit with Scott's Grandma Winward who was very upset that we spent money on a hotel...I sure hope she forgives us! Later that day we went fishing at a private pond by Lava Hot Springs. We all caught a fish (even Hailey). We had so much fun!
